In recent days, news circulated over the
Internet stating that WhatsApp would notify users when there was a screenshot
while chatting. With this, the
app would work similarly to snapchat, which warns users when their messages are
printadas. The news, however,
is unlikely. It was published by
the website Portal Updated, the Amazon, and cites no source.Google searches by
other sites with similar news will not bring significant results. The Portal Updated also did little to
give credibility to their own news. Yesterday,
the site that circulated the rumor tweeted a picture showing one's audience and
thanking readers - something unusual among the most trusted sites. Since then, the site deleted the
tweet. It seems, therefore, that
it is a rumor published by the site, particularly to increase their audience,
but without more concrete evidence that this is a real change. In the absence sources such update
would not make sense: WhatsApp does not notify users when their messages are
forwarded to others, then notify only the prints would not change anything. In addition, Whatsapp, unlike
snapchat, keep records of all conversations (even allowing the users to keep
copies on Google Drive).
We
contacted WhatsApp in the United States but, so far, we have not had any answer
as to rumor. It was
probably why, a few days later, the same site released a similar rumor,
according to which the Instagram would have a tool "recent visitors". Similar to the late Orkut, the
function allow users to see who has visited your page recently. Just like the previous rumor, it was
not accompanied by any sources.UPDATE: The Portal Updated sent a note to
Digital Look confirming that both the news about Whatapp as the Instagram were false. According to the portal, the reporter
responsible for both news, Hugo Santos, was fired early on Wednesday. The website reported that soon will
publish an errata on the situation.
