Paris - The Japanese
group Sony announced on Tuesday new products,
including a new version of the popular racing simulator "Gran
Turismo", and introduced new virtual reality experiences on Tuesday, the
eve of the inauguration of the HallVideogame Paris .
The press conference
had been a "premiere": as never before another participant had
organized a similar event outside the Paris Games Week, whose sixth edition
officially begins on Wednesday.
This type of
presentation is common in other world specialized halls such as the Los Angeles
E3 or TGS Tokyo.
"The Paris Games
Week has become a bigger stage in European video game landscape," said Jim
Ryan, director of Sony's European arm, during the presentation that took place
at the Arch of La Defense (west of Paris).
The presentations took
place at high speed. While some
were already known, as the next episodes of "Star Wars" or "Call
of Duty" to be launched in November, others were kept secret until now.
This was the case of
the future "Gran Turismo Sport", racing game version of Sony or
"Detroit", the French studio Quantic Dream.
The latter was launched
in recent years, although its reception was somewhat tempered by proposing
simplified videogames have not given great satisfaction to the users.
Instead, the Japanese
group said the development of virtual reality helmet, the Playstation VR, which
will be marketed in 2016, with new titles designed for that instrument.
"Our partners are
very enthusiastic about the Playstation VR" said Shuhei Yoshida, head of
Sony Playstation development studios, saying that more than 200 experts are
currently working on specific games for this device.
The range of virtual
reality helmets is at the center of world attention, since, in addition to
Sony, several other manufacturers in the industry have focused on the
development of this technology. A
case in point is that of Facebook and Oculus helmet.
